Thank you for your interest in The New York Academy of Sciences' virtual student opportunities with the Junior Academy!

This is a special student application cycle for the Spring 2026 semester of programming for the following countries: 

Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestinian Territories, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, United States of America (including Puerto Rico), and Yemen

This special recruitment period will be open from October 30th 2025 to January 6th 2026. We will be reviewing applications and notifying students of their status in our program by the end of January 2026.

Eligibility

  • Ages 13-17 at the time of the program.

  • If your birthday does not fall within these ranges your application will not be accepted.

  • To participate in the Spring 2026 semester, your birthdate must fall within the following range:
    • You must be or turn 13 by February 1st 2026.

    • You must NOT turn 18 before May 1st 2026.

  • All applications MUST be submitted in English

  • Have a keen interest in STEM

  • Interested in meeting students from around the world

  • Be able to participate in English

  • Team player looking to solve real-world challenges on an international team of peers

  • From the following MENA or USA countries: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestinian Territories, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, United States of America (including Puerto Rico), and Yemen. Students who are not from the countries listed above will not be considered during our special recruitment cycle.

  • Participate in a team in the Spring 2026 semester.


Please Note: Students who are already part of the Junior Academy on Launchpad do NOT need to apply again!

How to Apply: Students only!

  1. If you already have a SurveyMonkeyApply account, login at the top of the screen, then click the “Apply” button to begin your application. 

  2. If you don’t have an account yet, click the “Register” button, create your account, and then proceed with your application. By creating an account, you will be able to save your application and return to it at any time.

  3. Students: please fill out your name and the email that you use and have access to. The email you register with will be the email that we use to communicate with you!

  4. Make sure you fill in all of the tasks in the application. 

  5. Within the application, you must fill out a parental consent form. Please have your parent or guardian sign (we will need a signature) and date the form. Please upload all pages to your application.

  6. Review your work!

  7. Hit the Submit button!

The Junior Academy is a passionate community of problem solvers made up of talented students, STEM experts, and industry leaders from around the world. Junior Academy members are dedicated to designing innovative solutions to society’s greatest challenges! The Junior Academy is part of the New York Academy of Sciences' education initiative that introduces passionate students to an online community where they gain access to best-in-class STEM resources and work together to solve real-world problems. STEM professionals mentor student teams during 8-10 week virtual innovation challenges, with multiple challenges a year for participants to choose from.
